Did You Know? Music Creates a Community

Music has the power to take over a person. Music is soulful, music is strong, music can change you.

There are a variety of places in Morgantown where you can experience that feeling.

Mainstage Morgantown: Opened in 2015, this club has a variety of musicians, bands, and Dj’s perform. They vary from rock, pop, hip-hop, EDM. This spot creates a community within itself as the fans become like family because of the commonalty students have with a particular genre.

123 Pleasant Street: This club has local bands as well as famous bands perform. This is a great place to hear local music and get a feel for the community.

“123 is one of the few venues in Morgantown that supports not only relevant big artists, but local artists as well. It’s a place where a local band can share the same stage on the same night as a popular artist. It’s the premier venue for up and coming local music acts,” says Student Justice Reedman. “Performances at 123 have helped local stars rise to fame. It’s a place where you can listen to music you love produced by people you love.”

WVU Arts & Entertainment: “A Division of Student Life.”

They vary from concerts to musicals, to dances, and plays.

Last week, they announced that famous rapper Lil Wayne is coming to the Coliseum on April 7th. Upcoming musicals include: Mamma Mia! On May 4th.  And Annie on May 6th. They’re even having a radio show called Mountain Stage in late April.

These few venues bring students and the “Townees” together to become like a family. Through music we all connect to each other despite our differences.
